Using Proven Communications Strategies to Find Subjects
Effective clinical research and successful product development are the lifeblood of your business and of improving the lives of people around the world. We understand your business and apply our communications expertise, which has been honed for 60 years, to help you make it successful.
We apply innovative research-based strategies to motivate your target audiences. We factor in eligibility criteria and protocol demands, patient pools and their communications channels, the market landscape for your product, and the increasingly complex media environment.
We draw upon multiple specialized capabilities to tailor the communications approach to your study. These include experts in multicultural/ethnic communications, digital outreach and intake, grassroots marketing, advertising, and patient advocacy relations. We also manage a physician-run, HIPAA-compliant call center that offers comprehensive programming, trained phone nurses, flexible staffing levels, multilingual capabilities, and database management.
We deliver results at the point of impact. Here are a few examples:
Global MS Study
The first global study for an oral multiple sclerosis (MS) therapy and the largest clinical research trial on MS to date needed 1,300 patients globally within six months. The 56-week study aimed to determine whether an oral formulation of an injectible drug was safe and effective in treating relapsing-remitting MS. The study took place in 18 countries.
FH set up a toll-free phone line in North America and promoted it with media materials. In other countries, patients were directed to see clinicians for more information. FH worked with patient organizations globally to reach key audiences. The goal of recruiting 1,300 subjects was achieved in three months as news of the study reached more than 88 million people, generated over 110 million impressions, and drove 10,000 calls to the toll-free line.
Alzheimer's Disease Trial
A major pharmaceutical company approached Fleishman-Hillard with a considerable challenge. Enrollment for one of its Alzheimer's disease clinical trials had been open for more than one and a half years and was nowhere near closing. In response, we implemented a localized media campaign through interviews with local caregivers and study-site investigators. We also developed a centralized pre-screening and processing system to ensure study-site referral for qualified patients.
The trial closed 2 1/2 months early following 18 million media impressions; 489 calls to the toll-free line; 142 patients referred to study sites.
